What happens to your mattress

Mattresses are bulky and awkward to get rid of, and most councils charge to collect them. Left on the street, they’re fly-tipping, and if you hand one to someone who isn’t a licensed waste carrier and it gets dumped, you can be fined.

We take mattresses to authorised sites, where they’re recycled as far as possible: the steel springs, foam and fabric can be separated and reused. You get a waste transfer note as proof.

Before we arrive

  • Strip the bedding before we arrive.
  • If it’s wet or badly stained, wrap it in plastic and tell us when you book.
  • Tell us the floor and whether there’s a lift.
